25-Year MDPE Pipe
Why moling

Replace the pipe — not your driveway, garden or patio.

Traditional pipe replacement means tearing up everything in the way. Moling pulls a brand-new MDPE pipe through a single underground bore — leaving lawns, paving, and tarmac untouched.

No driveway dig

Two small access pits at each end — block paving, lawns and patios stay intact, so you save hundreds in reinstatement costs.

Done in a day

Most domestic supply replacements are completed inside a single working day — water back on the same evening.

25-year warranty pipe

We install WRAS-approved blue MDPE — the same modern polyethylene pipe used by water companies, with a 25-year design life.

Lead-free water

Replace your old lead supply with food-grade MDPE and remove the health risk for good — particularly important for young families.

Costs less, full stop

No skip hire, no jackhammers, no patio relays. We pass the savings on — and there’s no surprise reinstatement bill at the end.

Tidy on, tidy off

We backfill, reinstate the two access pits, sweep up and leave the site as we found it. No surprises, no half-finished mess.

What is moling?

A pneumatic mole, a small access hole, and a fresh new water supply.

Moling is a no-dig technique used for replacing water mains and laying new supply pipes. A small pneumatic “mole” is launched underground from one side of your property and travels in a straight line beneath driveways, lawns and roads to the other side.

Once the mole arrives at the receive pit, the new MDPE pipe is connected and pulled back through the bore. The result: a brand-new, lead-free water supply with only two small access holes to fill in.

When is moling the right choice?

  • Replacing an old galvanised steel or lead supply pipe.
  • Bringing a new water connection in from the road or stop tap.
  • Avoiding damage to a finished driveway, lawn or patio.
  • Properties where excavation is impractical or expensive to reinstate.
How it works

Four steps from quote to clean water

  • Locate stop tap & plan the bore line
  • Dig two small access pits
  • Fire the pneumatic mole through the ground
  • Pull through new MDPE pipe & reinstate

Most domestic moling jobs run 4–8 hours, with the water turned back on the same day.

FAQ

Honest answers, no jargon.

How long does a typical moling job take?

For a standard domestic supply replacement (around 10–25 metres), we’re usually on and off site within a single day — often by lunchtime. Larger or longer runs may need a second day for reinstatement.

Will my driveway, paving or lawn be damaged?

The whole point of moling is that we don’t need to lift the surface. We open a small access pit at each end (typically 600mm × 600mm) — your block paving, gravel, lawn or tarmac in between stays untouched.

Do you replace lead pipes safely?

Yes. We pull a new WRAS-approved blue MDPE pipe through, isolate and cap the old lead supply, and ensure your new pipe is bonded and tested before going live. The old lead is removed safely.

How much does it cost?

Most domestic moling jobs sit in the £900–£1,800 range depending on length, depth, ground type and access. We always provide a fixed-price quote up front — no day-rate surprises.

Are you insured and qualified?

Yes — we hold £5m public liability insurance, all groundworks staff are CSCS-carded and DBS-checked, and all pipework is installed to WaterSafe / WRAS standards.

Can you handle emergency leaks and bursts?

Yes — emergency call-outs are usually attended within a couple of hours across our core areas. Call 07723 959178 day or night and we’ll get you back on supply.
